THE TELL-TALE HEART

Genevieve was charged with kidnaping her employer’s child only months after the death of her daughter. According to the Police Gazette her husband did not appear at the court hearing but fled out west leaving Genevieve uncertain if he would ever return. Genevieve had been in the employ of Mrs Barr-Smith, an officer’s wife, for a year without incident. She was found outside the Lord Nelson Hotel with baby and pram talking to passers by as if the baby was her own.

Genevieve Mooy, 5 April 1928, Central Police Station.
